Safely Returning to School - Hamden & New Haven
We are in full support of the Hamden and New Haven Schools students safely returning to in-person learning, as long as recommendations and protocols from the Centers of Disease Control are strictly followed and teacher safety is made a strict priority. We recommend that teachers and admin staff are sent to the front of the line in CT to be vaccinated for those who want to receive the vaccination. Until community wide herd immunity is reached, we recommend following the CDC's testing protocol, mask wearing and social distancing to ensure the safety of teachers and students.

COVID-19 In our Community
Since March of 2020, the social impact of the Coronavirus has been devastating to the black and brown community. Domestic violence, teen run away, food insecurity, housing insecurity or homelessness, gun violence, student disengagement in the schools with the uncertainty of fluctuating schedules school schedules, poor or no internet connectivity, all have contributed to the increase in hopelessness and despair in our community. Please click the "Contact Us" button, if you know someone or a family in need of food, or shelter. We will work to connect them with services to assist them in this time of need.
Adbul Osmanu and Mariam Khan had a big win in the November 2nd general election. They made history, at 19 years old, as the youngest town officials ever to be elected. This is what youth empowerment and leadership looks like in a democracy.
